sore tooth from filled cavity?

Peter C.

So two or three months ago I had a pretty deep cavity in my left, upper molar. The dentist thankfully had an open appointment later that day and filled it right away. During the procedure, it seemed like they were in a bit of a rush, and they didn't wait the full time to let the numbing to set in. When they were drilling, it hurt quite a bit when she would hit a nerve, but I didn't want to be there longer than I had to be so I just grit my teeth and went through it anyways. However, for the next couple of days it continued to hurt every time I bit down on it. And now, even two or three months later my upper molar still hurts every time I bite down on it. I'm not sure I trust the dentist to go in again though and cause further damage, but I'm afraid it could still have a cavity. Anyone experience this or have any advice? Should I see my dentist?

Dental procedures are dreadful no matter what, so I can only imagine what a rushed one is like. If I were you I would return to your dentist immediately and express your concerns. I think you should get a refund and the procedure finished/corrected free of charge. A few months seems way too long to still be experiencing pain. Get back to their office ASAP! Good luck.
