My son has a technology addiction

My son is 13 years old and my husband and I just gave him his first cell phone. We already regret it because he is spending far too much time using it. He is always texting or playing some sort of game. He doesn't even talk to us anymore. Day and night, his eyes are glued to the thing! When we take it away from him, he has a meltdown. He is addicted to his phone and we don't know what to do. Is there anything we can do?

    That's just the way these days with teens. Our daughters do the same thing. You have to start small, get involved with family activities where he won't think to look at his phone. Introduce a no phone at dinner policy. Hopefully if you start small, you can weane him off the phone and at least get him to not be on it constantly when you're around. Hope it helps!
